Everyone knows that vodka is made from potatoes, but what if I told that’s not necessarily the case. While vacationing in St. Croix we found a distillery making vodka out of breadfruit. While doing our tasting the helpful staff told us about how this makes the vodka different, via things like mouthfeel, yadda yadda and maybe something about a reduced hangover (bonus!!!).
To be honest, we don’t have a sophisticated enough palet for all that, but this vodka is good. For those who aren’t big fans of vodka, we found this sprit to be a chameleon. While on the island we mixed it with all types of things from a tropical vodka punch, to pain killers to drilling a hole in a coconut and pouring it in. In every case, the drink turned out great with the vodka adding to the enjoyment of the cocktail every time. It really showed how versatile vodka can be on an island known for its rum.
If you’re on St. Croix be sure to try their other flavors, from coffee to spicy pepper (perfect for Bloody Mary’s) these vodkas are the perfect base for your next boozy concoction.
Stay in good spirits!
